Fans of music & theatre find themselves in good company. Wales Millennium Centre is home to the country’s national orchestra, opera, dance, and literature companies, with regional hotspots like Monmouth’s Savoy Theatre, Theatr Clwyd, and the eco-friendly Theatr Brycheiniog, opportunities for live performance abound. Meanwhile, Focus Wales brings together 250 artists over 20 stages at venues across the country, seeing emerging and established names play alongside each other.

Wales hosts a plethora of festivals throughout the summer. Head to Machynlleth Comedy Festival for laughs with your friends, head to Hay Festival to enjoy the UK’s premier literary and culture festival, and embrace the opportunity to discover previously unknown parts of yourself at Unearthed Festival. That’s not even to mention all of the music festivals in Wales, which range from a celebration of classic rock at Steelhouse Festival, an embrace of classical music at Gower Festival, and great vibes at The Big Retreat Festival.

Gather your friends for Pride Cymru, or nourish your body and soul by embracing slow, low-impact living at Fire in the Mountain. Families will love Welsh events like the Anglesey County Show, The Big Tribute Festival, or Brecon Beacons-based Green Man Festival.

Those who love to get their blood pumping can challenge themselves to the many sporting events in Wales. Take on the toughest triathlon in the UK with the multi-terrain Craft Snowman Triathlon, or face the hardest fell race in Wales by taking on the Cader Idris (Ras y Gader) mountain race. Newport Wales Marathon, Swansea Half Marathon, and Cardiff Half Marathon provide opportunities for road-based endurance runners to test their mettle. There’s even the Mini Burn series for active families, combining running, biking, and kayaking in the beautiful Forest of Dean.
