We’ve compiled a list of the best seaside holiday cottages in Wales by the sea, to save you time that would be better spent making memories.

With beaches like these, who needs the faff of travelling overseas? Grab your family and get ready to traverse the Welsh coast – and don’t forget your swimsuit and sun cream (it’s good to be optimistic, after all).

Seaside cottages in Wales

The Secret Garden – Goodwick

Romantic hideaway The Secret Garden is located in North Pembrokeshire and looks out onto the harbour of Fishguard Bay. Perfect for couples with just one bedroom, you can also bring a pooch friend if you like – but be aware that kids aren’t allowed. There’s off-road parking and the cottage is reached through communal terraced gardens (hence the name). You can enjoy sea views as you plan your day over a cup of coffee, before heading out to dog-friendly Goodwick Sands for a spot of seal watching.

Limeslade Court – Gower

Newly renovated, Limeslade Court lists amongst the most charming holiday cottages along the Welsh coast. Bracelet Bay is on your doorstep and further afield you can reach the village of Mumbles, a popular spot with the poet and playwright Dylan Thomas.

Foreshore View – Ferryside

A spacious property by the seaside, Foreshore View sleeps four and allows dogs. You can admire the River Tywi from the balcony before heading down to enjoy the beach, or take a short trip to Carmarthen and Kidwelly. Local shops and pubs are within walking distance, and there are plenty of chances to take part in water sports, walking, fishing, cycling and wildlife watching.

The Cottage – Broadhaven

Broadhaven is one of Wales’ best-loved beaches, and The Cottage is amongst the best holiday cottages along this part of the Welsh coast. Pets are allowed at this two-bedroom cottage, which also has barbecue facilities for long summer nights and the chance to go horse riding nearby.

Villa – Freshwater East

With a heated swimming pool and a location right on the beach, this Villa is hard to beat when it comes to spacious Welsh seaside cottages. As well as a games room with snooker and table tennis tables, there’s also a steam room and hot tub for the adults to relax in whilst the kids blow off steam. You couldn’t be closer to the beach – you have your own private steps down – and pets are also allowed.

Brynymor Cottage – Gower

Rhossili Bay

It’s hard to beat the beaches of the Gower Peninsula, and if you’re a family of five, Brynymor Cottage will tick the boxes. Only 800 yards from the beach, this is a well-fitted cottage offering views of Carmarthen Bay in the distance. Enjoy the charming hamlet of Llangennith after a day on the beach, or strap on your backpack and prepare to walk the coast of the magnificent Gower Peninsula, which is right on your doorstep. Rhossili is only 1.5 miles away too, in case you have any keen surfers in your group.

Sea Suite – Tenby

Located in the centre of town, you’ll have shops, pubs, and restaurants on your doorstep of Sea Suite – but don’t worry, you’re still right by the coast, at only 200 yards from North Tenby Beach. There are two bedrooms and pets are allowed – at this Wales holiday cottage by the sea, you get the best of both worlds with nearby amenities and stunning views of the beach.

Coastal Retreat – Nefyn

Sleeping five, Coastal Retreat is one of the best seaside cottages in North Wales for culture, coast, and countryside. If you tire of the sandy beaches of the Llyn Peninsula, Snowdonia is within forty minutes by car, and you can enjoy a spot of golf at Nefyn’s iconic course. Otherwise, you can swim, fish, paddleboard, and kayak to your heart’s content before crashing out in front of the cosy wood-burning stove in the evening.

Redcliffe Apartments – Gower

Plan a trip away with a partner or a best friend at this gorgeous property. Whilst it’s not technically a holiday cottage, Redcliffe Apartments nonetheless offers impressive access to the Welsh coast. With stunning views across Caswell Bay, you’ll enjoy a gorgeous seascape from dusk ‘til dawn and can access the beach itself via a private route. Mumbles is only five minutes away by car, making this a great spot from which to explore the surrounding Gower Peninsula.

Camelot on the Parrog – Newport

It’s hard to beat Camelot on the Parrog for holiday cottages in Wales that are both near a beach and have a sizeable private garden. Only 350 yards from Newport Beach, this property has three bedrooms and allows pets. Cardigan Castle is reasonably nearby, and you can always enjoy a quiet morning in the garden before braving a sea swim.

Tyr Llyr – Glamorgan

Enjoy estuary views and a high tide that laps against the garden walls at Tyr Llyr. Bright and airy, this cottage by the sea sleeps five and offers sublime views across to Carmarthen Bay. Located in the village of Penclawdd, you’ll have restaurants and amenities a-plenty, but can also explore the natural landscape of the Gower Peninsula.

Atlantic Haven – Llangennith

A retreat for larger groups or families, Atlantic Haven might not be right by the sea, but it’s only a stone’s throw from Llangennith Beach. Light and airy, the property has a large patio area for al fresco meals after long days spent in the nearby surf. Golfers can also take their pick of five courses all within a fifteen-mile drive of the property.
